Today I will introduce you to the next important step of creating carved candles. It is preparation of the core of candle.
First off all it is important the quality of the paraffin wax which I am using. It is ALWAYS best quality, deep refined and clean paraffin without any additional smell and which does not smoke while burning.
Next important ingredient which shall be added to the core of candle is stearic acid. It gives the necessary hardness of the core of the candle.
Now the wick! No candle without a wick. I use only 100% cotton wicks braided of three different yarns.
There are different shapes of cores I am using to make carved candles. Most of them shape is hexagonal star , tapered or straight. There are four heights 4.72”, 6.3”, 7,87” and 8,6”
I use only 100% cotton braided wicks German made.
Paraffin wax preparing for melting
After 3-4 hours the core of candles can be removed from moulds. It is not easy process and often you need to cool it down before you can take out the core from the mould.
Filling moulds by melted down paraffin.
